Stories for Imagination Scientists — Tech Tales
Volume 1 · Ages 5–6

Stories for Imagination Scientists

Ten free stories, one gentle question at a time: how does it work? Meet the smart helpers, cameras, and talking maps of everyday life — and build your child’s very first AI vocabulary along the way.

Every story builds vocabulary and exercises imagination together — read one a day, or return anytime.
For Parents & Teachers: How to Use These Stories

Why there are no pictures in the stories

These stories are deliberately image-free. The most vivid, lasting pictures are the ones a child builds inside their own mind — and that only happens when they have to do the building themselves. When a story is heard without pictures, imagination becomes active work, not passive watching.

The two-step approach

  • Step 1 — Read together, picture-free. Let your child build the scene in their own head first. This is where the real cognitive work happens.
  • Step 2 — Reveal the Story-Spark images afterward. These aren’t “the right answer” — they’re a spark. Show them, then ask your child how their own version compared.

Your role while reading

  • Pause at descriptive moments and ask, “What do you see in your mind right now?”
  • Every answer is the right answer — celebrate whatever your child pictures.
  • Add sound effects and different voices for the characters — it makes the picture-building even richer.

After the story

  • Drawing time: “Show me your favorite scene!”
  • Keep going: “What do you think happens next?”
  • Act it out: use household objects as props for the tech characters.

What this is really building

Alongside the fun, each story is quietly doing two things: introducing gentle, friendly AI vocabulary your child will keep meeting throughout their life, and strengthening imagination itself as a skill — one of the few things technology can’t do for them.
