Everyone is racing to teach kids AI literacy. Schools are adding it to curricula. Parents are asking about it. Policymakers are debating it. EdTech companies are building for it.
Almost no one is asking what has to come before it.
AI literacy frameworks typically begin around age 8—and rightly so. They focus on skills: how AI works, how to use it, how to evaluate it.
But the years before age 8 are not a waiting room. They are the prime years.
The prime years, not the waiting years
In those early years, children form the foundations that make later AI literacy possible at all:
- The vocabulary to name and question AI
- The cognitive sense-making to grasp what AI is — and is not
- The early trust calibration that becomes healthy skepticism
- The socio-ethical awareness that notices when something is unfair
- The empathic attunement that keeps human relationships primary
We call this AI pre-literacy—and we take “pre” in the sense of prime, not before.
Why AI literacy needs a pre-literacy foundation
AI pre-literacy rests on a simple but uncomfortable observation: the AI revolution is not the industrial revolution.
Industrial schooling was built to produce standardized workers at a standardized pace. A society shaped by AI needs something different—children who notice patterns, question fairness, express themselves clearly, and understand real human feeling.
That work does not start when a child is old enough to open a chatbot. It starts much earlier, in the everyday moments of play, conversation, story, and relationship.
Introducing 12 free AI pre-literacy games for ages 3–8
So we built something for it.
We’re launching 12 free AI pre-literacy games for ages 3–8 — short, screen-light, and designed to be played by a child with a grown-up, not handed to a screen.
No AI tools. No coding. No skill drills. Just the five human pillars underneath it all.
Free — because AI pre-literacy should never depend on income
The games are completely free—no fees, no subscriptions, no sign-up, ever.
Because in the spirit of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, AI pre-literacy should never depend on a family’s income. Every home. Every classroom. Every community.
A foundation before a framework
If you work in early-years education, child development, AI ethics, or EdTech, I’d genuinely value your thoughts. And if you know a parent or teacher who would find these useful, please share.
Conceived, designed & developed with Prof. Dr. S. Pasha.
Let’s build the foundation before the framework.
